Red Velvet and Chocolate Cake-Cookies for Fall

Hello there <3 I am back with a new cake-cookie recipe for Fall. So let's get started cookin <3

Here is what you're going to need for this red velvet and chocolate cake :

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar

1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
2 ounces red food coloring
2 eggs
2 sticks butter, room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon vinegar
Pinch salt
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar, until light and fluffy.
In a measuring cup, stir eggs with buttermilk and then add to butter and sugar batter.

Mix in vinegar and vanilla, and then add flour and baking soda. Mix until combined but do not over mix

Then separate the batter into two equal bowls.

In one bowl add half of the cocoa powder and salt mixture bowl and in the other add the other half of the cocoa powder and salt mixture plus the red food colouring

Butter a sheet pan. Lay parchment on top. Pour batter into pan and smooth the top to even the batter out, using an offset spatula. Bake cake until a toothpick comes out clean, about 30 minutes at 1800C

Meanwhile, make the frosting:

2 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 sticks butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Heat all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Whisk until sauce thickens, about 15 minutes. Let cool slightly before using.

With the cookie cutters of your choice cut out several pieces with the large cookie cutter and then while the cake is still inside it , cut out a smaller shaped piece with it. For cookie cutters I chose a circular ruffle-edged cookie cutter (large) and a heart shape (small)

To join the big and small piece, use the frosting and then go over the top of the cookie with the frosting and brush.

For final touches, place the cake cookies on a plate and u are ready to serve :)

Hope you enjoyed this recipe and if you do any of these treats be sure to send a picture to me on twitter <3

So hope you enjoyed and cu next week
